Atlantic Immigration Pilot
Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) is a pilot program run between the federal government and the 4 provinces in the Atlantic region that is:
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Nova Scotia; and
- Prince Edward Island
Features of AIPP:
- The application is almost entirely led by the employer.
- Brings candidates to the Atlantic region to fill positions for which Canadians citizens and PR cannot or would not fill.
- For the purposes of AIPP no LMIA is required;.
- Employers must become designated to extend job offers.
There are 3 major programs under the AIPP
Atlantic High Skilled Program
Atlantic Intermediate Skilled Program
Atlantic International Graduate Program
General Requirements under AIPP
Job Offer
A candidate must receive a job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada to participate in the pilot.
Optional Temporary Work Permit
Certain applicants may apply for a temporary work permit before submitting their permanent residence application. This work permit gives the chance of working while waiting for the permanent residence application to be processed and finalized.
Settlement Plan
Candidates for all three programs require a Settlement Plan after receiving an offer of employment. The settlement plan outlines the resources specific to them and their families needs. To complete the settlement plan, the candidate does not need to be in Canada but it has to be completed with an approved settlement service provider.
Provincial Endorsement
Each job offer made requires provincial endorsement. The application for endorsement is conducted by the employer once the candidate has their settlement plan completed. Once the provincial endorsement process is completed the candidate can apply for Permanent Residency with the certificate of endorsement.
